Our experience of museography, stage design and architecture gives us a very exacting dialectic and uncompromising discussion combining consideration for the audiences, the aesthetic and the technical. So we are opposed to simple solutions, the banal, a lack of design and media finesse. Our passion is in this invention The Atelier des Charrons is well-known in France and abroad, for its original museography for children and young people even as part of adult visits such as the Gallo-Roman Museum at Ath in Belgium, the Musée des Beaux Arts (Museum of Beautiful Arts) in Lyon, at the CCSTIs (Scientific, Technical and Industrial Cultural Centres) or even at the Château de Malbrouck in the Moselle.(See our press review). We have been in the habit, for several years now, of including every provision in our exhibits for access by handicapped visitors. We’ve just created the Young Persons exhibition and the adapted exhibition at the Musée de la Céramique (Ceramics Museum) at Lezoux..
Carrying out research and teaching in cultural mediation of Anglo-Saxon interpretation and evaluation, we clearly understand the problems of cultural and tourist audiences and groups of children. We maintain a close watch when taking part at seminars, reading and making evaluations on the ground. So we always design playful programmes, accessible to all, that are not only educational but above all always different. Our working methods are firmly based in reality ; for us, feasibility and the matter of cost are always strong elements of the design. We think that it is fundamental to be as detailed as possible, in order to avoid any possible disagreements because the project sponsor must accept his responsibilities in full knowledge of the facts. We have no hesitation in making long trips on site so as to forge strong links with the sponsors and our scientific partners: in this way our projects are not parachuted in but are put together with the sponsors and competent people or resources. |
