MISSION

Design and project management of the scenography and multimedia aspects of the new immersive exhibition rooms of the Coal Mining Museum

Concept

The tour presents the geological origins and history of mining in the region, as well as a human and sensitive approach focused on miners’ working conditions.
The first area features an immersive audiovisual show that recreates the environment during the Carboniferous period.

Interactive devices—a timeline operated by a crank handle and touchscreen devices—complete this geological history of the region and the origins of coal formation. A second area presents the history of coal mining in the region and its impact on the landscape via a mapping projection onto a model. The third space offers a graphic representation of a mine gallery. Equipped with touch walls, this space allows visitors to explore working conditions, social struggles, risks, disasters, and the rescue of miners. A “simulator” recreates the conditions—heat, noise, vibrations—experienced by miners working underground.
